An Ex-SCREAM Start for Palatine U-13

The Palatine Scream U-13 Girls Soccer team kicked off the
fall season in back-to-back tournaments. The
team traveled to
“One of the main ingredients to our improved start this year has been the improvement in our practice work ethic,” said J.B. Dow, head coach of the Scream and Vice President of the Palatine Celtic Soccer Association. Our practices have become game like in regards to the intensity of our scrimmages and exercises. Our future looks bright if we continue to work on our building blocks of skill, strategy and intensity this coming year.” JB is assisted by Larry Schramm and Rich Hamer, who are also managers of the Scream.

The Palatine U-13
Girls Scream Soccer team is off to a 3 and 0 start to their fall conference
season. Goals by Sara Schramm,
Luting Sun and Morgan Bauer with assists from Bethann Hamer and Sara Schramm,
along with great offensive and defensive efforts from the whole team gave the
Scream a 3-0 victory over the Schaumburg Scorchers in their first game.
The Scream picked up their second 3-0 win in Lombard with goals from
Bethann Hamer, Raisa McArtor and Nora Heaton, and assists from Jackie Lesniak
and Madeline Romano. Game 3 against
Northwest United gave the Scream their biggest challenge of the year.
Down 1-0 late in the first half, the Scream tied it when Sara Schramm
crossed the ball from the far left corner to Madeline Romano, who finished it
off with a beautiful header into the back of the net.
With less than a minute left in the game, Danielle Videka blasted the
winning goal into the upper left corner out of the reach of the goalie to give
the Scream a 2-1 victory. “The
team as a whole has shown a greater desire to compete and play through
diversity,” said JB Dow, coach of the Scream.
“Last year when other teams pushed us in critical moments we would back
down. So far this year, in critical
moments we have had the courage to take our best shot while withstanding the
other team’s best shot. As the
year goes on I expect us to continue to build on our desire and expectation of
excellence.”

The Palatine U-13 Girls Scream Soccer team took first place
in their Division this past fall season. The
Scream had a conference record of 9 wins and 1 tie and expect to advance to the
next Division this spring. A total
of 27 goals were scored during the conference season with 13 of the 16 team
members putting the ball in the back of the net.
The Scream defense held their opponents to 2 goals.
