“One of the main ingredients to our improved start this year has been the improvement in our practice work ethic,” said J.B. Dow, head coach of the Scream and Vice President of the Palatine Celtic Soccer Association.  Our practices have become game like in regards to the intensity of our scrimmages and exercises.  Our future looks bright if we continue to work on our building blocks of skill, strategy and intensity this coming year.”  JB is assisted by Larry Schramm and Rich Hamer, who are also managers of the Scream.

The Palatine U-13 Girls Scream Soccer team is off to a 3 and 0 start to their fall conference season.  Goals by Sara Schramm, Luting Sun and Morgan Bauer with assists from Bethann Hamer and Sara Schramm, along with great offensive and defensive efforts from the whole team gave the Scream a 3-0 victory over the Schaumburg Scorchers in their first game.  The Scream picked up their second 3-0 win in Lombard with goals from Bethann Hamer, Raisa McArtor and Nora Heaton, and assists from Jackie Lesniak and Madeline Romano.  Game 3 against Northwest United gave the Scream their biggest challenge of the year.  Down 1-0 late in the first half, the Scream tied it when Sara Schramm crossed the ball from the far left corner to Madeline Romano, who finished it off with a beautiful header into the back of the net.  With less than a minute left in the game, Danielle Videka blasted the winning goal into the upper left corner out of the reach of the goalie to give the Scream a 2-1 victory.  “The team as a whole has shown a greater desire to compete and play through diversity,” said JB Dow, coach of the Scream.  “Last year when other teams pushed us in critical moments we would back down.  So far this year, in critical moments we have had the courage to take our best shot while withstanding the other team’s best shot.  As the year goes on I expect us to continue to build on our desire and expectation of excellence.”
